Where the Money Goes

Starfish is truly committed to all of our projects. Our work is made possible by our volunteer’s fees. Every penny of a volunteer’s fees has a positive impact on Thailand and our projects.

Like all businesses we have daily, weekly, monthly and yearly costs that need to be paid. These include wages, housing, utilities, accommodation, transport, communication, legal fees and many more. Obviously your fee is also used to cover the cost of looking after you; your airport pick up, Bangkok hotel, travel to placement, accommodation, local support team and transportation to name but a few things.

Many of our projects require additional funds for materials, tools, professional labour. Any money that is surplus to your personal and Starfish business costs is put into a central pot and used towards for projects throughout the year, as and when required.

Lastly we regularly donate to our projects and are continually developing and investing in our placements.

Your fee goes a long way and ensures Starfish can continue to support worthwhile projects in Thailand. In 2010 alone, Starfish donated over 600,000 Thai Baht to its projects. None of this would have been possible without our volunteers.
